PG600 reflects the product’s constituents and quantities per dose – 400 IU serum gonadotropin (PMSG) + 200 IU chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), giving 600 IU in total.
PMSG stimulates the growth of the ovarian follicle and HCG promotes its ovulation and the formation of the corpus luteum.
In the first few hours after weaning, the secretion of naturally-occurring follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and LH is stimulated. These hormones act together to regulate follicular development, leading to ovulation.
Advantages of using
PG600 in gilts
- Improved organisation and planning of re-stocking, including the reduced number of replacement gilts, grouping of gilts by the timing of oestrus to optimise the detection of first, second and third oestrus, i.e. time of service or insemination.
- Management of problem gilts to minimise extra rearing costs.
- Reduction in the number of unproductive days in prospective sows.
- Increasing oestrus rates.
PMPG600® induces oestrus in prepuberal gilts over 5.5 months of age and promotes ovulation in sows post-weaning, by stimulating the growth of ovarian follicles and formation of the corpus luteum.
